Electric Bike Laws

Bryce Stone asked:

Just like with any motorized vehicle, electric bikes also must follow specified laws. If you have an electric bike and do not follow these laws, you can find yourself in a lot of trouble. Drivers of any kind of motor vehicle have a lot of responsibility to uphold. Electric bikes certainly are no exceptions to these rules. It does not matter where you live, electric bike owners need to know what the laws are. If you plan to buy an electric bike always make sure you are responsible and follow all safety and legal requirements.

It is important to remember that laws always change from place to place so be certain to find out all laws that apply to your local area. If you are not sure of the laws then get in touch with your local authorities because they will be able to assist you. Also, if you plan to take your electric bike into a different country or city, be sure to double check the laws there as well. Safety equipment is very important for those who wish to drive and own an electric bike. There are all kinds of items required by law such as helmets and various pads for knees and elbows.

Even though electric bikes as are just like regular bicycles they are often classed much the same as motorcycles. This is because they have an engine. That means the rider does not have to manually move the bike by pedalling. This often leads to plenty of confusion for those that mistakenly assume the laws. Laws can literally change by state or province. There are some places that do not allow the use of electric bicycles on the roads at all. This means that you can face a serious fine if you disobey this rule. The last thing that you want to happen is to be pulled over by a police officer while illegally riding an electric bicycle.

If your area allows the use of electric bicycles then there are certain standards that may apply.  For instance, the bike may have to be a specific weight to be legal. There may also be rules as to how fast the bike can go. Most of these laws apply to bikes that were properly and legally manufactured. This means that you cannot turn your own bicycle into an electric bike in most places.

There are many other factors to be taken into consideration when it comes to electric bike laws. Helmets are almost always mandatory. Such things as driver’s age and insurance can vary from place to place. It really is the responsibility of the electric bike owner to find out exactly how the law affects them. Being a safe bike operator will pay off. Choosing to operate an electric bike is serious. However, it is also a great option for the environment. Avoid facing fines or trouble by doing the right thing. Keep all of your facts straight and use your electric bike according to local laws. It should be a convenience not a hassle or a safety hazard.

Custom Motorcycle Helmets For You

Low Jeremy asked:

If you are looking for a custom motorcycle helmet, there are many shops that can make one for you. There are a lot of motorcycle helmets you can choose from. With many designs and makers to choose from, you would surely have your hands full finding one that you will like. Different designs offer different levels of comfort and styling. There are different types of motorcycle helmets available for different types of rides.

One of the more common motorcycle helmet types is the full face helmet. This type of motorcycle helmet covers the whole head and provides the most extensive head protection to the rider. A rear extension of this type of helmet covers the base of the skull while the front tries to protect the chin. A plastic face shield allows protection to the eyes and nose and provides access to the face if pushed up. Riders would usually experience of heat, claustrophobic sensation and reduced hearing while using the full face motorcycle helmet.

Then there is the ¾ motorcycle helmet, also known as the open face helmet. This type of helmet, just like the full face helmet, covers the back of the skull but gets rid of the lower chin armor and face shield in order to provide better airflow, hearing and peripheral vision. As added protection, most open face helmets are equipped with visors that help block out sunlight. For the eyes, it is always recommended to use goggles or wrap around sunglasses as a means of protection.

There is also the half helmet that would give you the most minimum coverage allowed by motorcycle helmet law. This type of helmet has the same front design as the open face helmet but with a cropped rear portion. The use of goggles and sunglasses can provide additional protection to the rider, just like the open face helmet. Before buying this kind of helmet, make sure that it meets the government standard for motorcycle helmet safety.

But if among the hundreds of motorcycle helmet designs available do not have the features that you want, you can have one custom made just for you. Custom made motorcycle helmets are for those with special needs. They are for people who look for a unique type of helmet in terms of design or shape.

Styling is also the reason why many people would want to have custom motorcycle helmets instead. No matter what you choose, make sure that what you are using can provide you with the level of safety and protection required by motorcycle law. These helmets are made for your protection much more than just for looks. That is what you should always bear in mind.

Making the Most of Cheap Motorcycle Helmets Online

Michael Holmes asked:

Tired of your old helmet? Fancy a spanking new cheap motorcycle helmet? Thought about buying one online but not sure what you’ll get? Fear not! Biker Mike to the rescue, that Champion of cheap motorcycle helmets, the doyen of shiny lids, the man who put the “Brain” in Brain Buckets, is here to help!

Well I may be getting a little carried away, but permit me to offer a few simple guidelines that will help make your online search for a cheap motorcycle helmet a whole lot easier…

Tip number one Don’t buy online. Well not if it’s your first helmet anyway. It’s just too risky. The first motorcycle helmet you buy should definitely be purchased from a store or at least from some place you can try it on and (pay attention, this is the important bit) wear it for at least ten minutes. OK, I can already hear you guys who picked up the first helmet they saw, put it on, and fits you like a glove, blah, blah, blah. I guarantee for every man or woman like that there are probably half a dozen who bought a cheap motorcycle helmet without even taking it out of the box before they got home, and were out buying another motorcycle helmet that actually fitted them properly the following weekend! Let me repeat, if you are buying your first helmet, go to a reputable store, I promise you they will let you try the lids on before you buy. If they don’t, go to the next store. Find one that is comfortable, and stick with it, at least for a while. However once you’ve found one you are comfortable with take a look at…

Tip number two You’ve found a motorcycle helmet that fits you that you are comfortable with. Now take a look online. You will probably find the exact same helmet, somewhere on the net, probably 20-30% cheaper. I don’t care what anyone says, thats a cheap motorcycle helmet! And just the job for a spare! Well you’ve got more that one pair of shoes haven’t you? And, particularly if you are a commuter, having a spare helmet makes sense doesn’t it? And you start to get a feel of what you can confidently buy online. Great! Now move on to …

Tip number three Spend a weekend trying on as many different helmets as you can. Make a note of the styles and sizes. Remember the helmet sizing charts differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Go with a friend; take some digital photos of the helmets. Get as much information as you can. You are now prepared to really take advantage of the cheap motorcycle helmets available online with…

Tip number four Check out the closeout deals available on motorcycle helmets. This is where you will find some unbelievable deals. Your favourite rider has moved teams? That’s a shame, but not if you want a fantastic helmet at a giveaway price. It is amazing how cheap motorcycle helmets can become just because they are painted in last seasons colours!

I could go on and on about the deals to be had, but I won’t. Just make sure you do your homework, and that top of the range helmet could be yours at a cheap motorcycle helmet price!
